From the winery: Champagne Taittinger only produces a vintage when the harvest is of exceptional quality. The bottles are first aged in the cellars for several years, allowing the aromas to slowly mature and the wine to develop length and complexity, before they are ready to be enjoyed. Taittinger Brut Millésimé 2006 is exclusively blended from first press wines. It consists of Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Noir (50%) harvested mostly from the Grands Crus in Montagne de Reims and the borders of the Vallée de la Marne.

The Taittinger Brut Vintage 2006 has a bright, pale yellow colour. The effervescence is lively, with abundant, very fine bubbles. The nose instantly reveals great finesse, with elegant notes of vine flowers. This is followed by intense, sweet, fruity aromas, evoking currants and quince paste, accompanied by a hint of aniseed on the finish. The attack is generous, rich and fruity, underscored by flavours of yellow fruit com- pote and greengages. The mid-palate is flavourful, very smooth and generous, suggesting fruit paste. The finish is uniform, very well-structured and full-bodied, developing a slightly tannic note.  Already presenting finesse, richness and body, the Brut Vintage 2006 promises to age well.

Perfect as an aperitif, this champagne also goes extremely well with white meats in sauce, such as a veal escalope, or a chicken casserole with sauce suprême.
