From the winery:
Sourced from low-yielding vineyards planted on Coonawarra's classic Terra-Rossa soils, the one-seven-one* is a brambly and brooding Cabernet Sauvignon packed full of cassis and spicy cedar notes and underpinned by dried herbs. Well integrated and complete for such a young pedigree Cabernet, the one-seven-one shows a great acid line, robust mid-palate richness and rounded but grainy tannins. While drinking beautifully in its youth, this wine will continue to improve with careful cellaring.
Aroma: The nose is complex with cassis, blueberry and blackberry fruits accompanied by light brambly and leafy notes. Oak maturation contributes subtle mocha and dusty cedar oak to complement the fruit flavours.
Palate: A classic cool climate wine with a powerful yet elegant structure. Black currant, and cassis fruit flavours dominate with some leafy flavours in the background. These fruit characters are complemented by well integrated dusty cedar background oak. The wine has a long finish with fine silky tannins and lingering fruit flavours.
