Tasting Notes:
The fruit for this wine was sourced from three distinct vineyard sites in the Sonoma Valley and bring three distinct and unique fingerprints to the wine style. The well drained Sunny Slope Vineyard brings profoundness to this wine; deep, dark fruit aromas and flavors of intense blackberry pull your attention toward the elevated fruit. The Cassata Vineyard, the cooler of the three, boasts bright red berry flavors contributing additional depth to this multilayered wine. The rich soils and protected location of the Stone Farm Vineyard round the finish with its sweet tannins. This wine is made from Demeter Certied Biodynamic Grapes.
Winemaker Notes:
Each of the chosen vineyards have high rock content, which allows cab to slowly grow in soil with very good drainage and poor fertility. Rocky soils produce grapes with round, soft, almost sweet tannins, which are exactly what we are after for Three Blocks. The low fertility soils of Sonoma Valley have excellent drainage, meaning strong roots must develop in order to find water. Vines with deep root penetration are also best able to capture the distinctiveness of the growing site. Nature: Tucked in the eastern foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains in the heart of Sonoma Valley, the Cabernet Sauvignon selected for ree Blocks was grown in Sunny Slope, Stone Farm and Cassata vineyards. Each has southwestern exposure which maximizes daylight hours. These are among the very warmest spots in Sonoma Valley, resulting in grape swith complex and fully developed dark fruit flavors.
